Imagine a Pharmacist in 1903 whose clientele came in droves with maladies from incessant coughs and persistent pains to skin irritations and the timeless onslaught of acne, or wrinkles or spots. Such was the founder of eb5, Pharmacist Heldfond, who opened his apothecary style drug store in Portland, Oregon. Armed with a wealth of academic knowledge which was only trumped by real-world experience, Pharmacist Heldfond used the classical approach to pharmacy, compounding, to mix just the right ingredients in just the right combinations significantly improving the appearance of aging skin. Whether manufactured pharmacological powders, or botanical oils and extracts, Pharmacist Heldfond’s tremendous classical and alternative disciplines worked together to provide life changing remedies for customers of his apothecary.
Going into the Heldfond Drug Company in 1920, you would have seen the shelves stocked with 'Heldfond Formula' products for such conditions as lumbago and catarrah and other common ills of those days. You may have seen a young boy in a white coat, stacking bottles of 'Dream of Youth', the first beauty cream invented in the family business. That young boy was Robert Heldfond, who like his father, was fascinated with the jars of herbs, salves and ointments in his father's pharmacy. This fascination encouraged him to devote many years of his life to training in Pharmacy School and years of herbal, vitamin and cosmetic research.
Robert Heldfond Sr. became enamored with developing a base which had operating properties beyond being a mixing agent for compounded botanicals, extracts and pharmaceutical ingredients. The available bases had undesirable properties like greasiness or non-absorption. So Robert Heldfond, Sr. invented his own. He began supplying the University of Oregon Medical Center with large quantities of his ointment base. Oddly, nurses from the Center started coming into his drug store in record number. They loved the results of using his ointment base on their hands and face and they wanted more.
Robert knew he had something of great value and continued researching adding vitamins and other natural ingredients to the formula to increase its benefits. eb5 was born! For years Robert sold eb5 out of his drug store, but after an article in The Oregonian in 1980, he couldn’t keep it in stock. A local department store began carrying it, and soon eb5 was available throughout the country.
Robert Heldfond, Jr. is the current CEO of eb5 and has continued his family’s tradition, expanding the line but keeping true to its valued heritage. Nothing reduces the signs of aging better than eb5 and its Synergex® skin rescue system. From the ingenuity born so many generations ago, to the continued innovation of eb5 today, the eb5 skin system is one of the best things you can do for the life of your skin.
